We, the Denizens of the Court of C&P, have given many a Capsuleer an out-of-pod experience to be committed to everlasting memory. Ahem.
In that spirit, we cast out the braggart Buldath from the society of all mellow miscreants such as ourselves; we deprive him of our 'likes', we skim his posts, but read them not, 'pon pain of everlasting exclusion.
But we quite like ISD Max Trix. |

ISD Buldath got jelly that ISD Max Trix out-likes him by a couple hundred. They called in their respective constituencies (GD for Buldath, C&P for Max Trix). Great fun!

Thank. Kind of hard to fight in Polaris Frigates. No slots.
That's when bumping and manual piloting skills really shine. Of course, they'd be more dramatically enhanced with a prop mod, but hey!
EDIT: ...and Rapid Ralph got there before me. |

I challenge you, "Max Trix" Of the Court of Crime and punishment, to Honorable 1 v 1 At the sun of Polaris On Sunday, January 29th.
This will be a 1v1 Battleship Duel.
No Implants, No Faction, Limited to T1 and T2 Modules and Ammunition. No Micro Jump Drives, no fleet Boosts. Limited to Tech 1 and NAVY Faction battleships. The first to die, or warp off, loses.
Winner gets the crown of King of the Forums!
I call upon my Knights of General Discussion to convene with me, On destroying this Pathetic attempt of a Tyranny that is the Court of Prime and Punishment.
Excellent idea (even if it did come from a suspect source)! 'King of the Forums' sounds ok, but surely something a little more plainly charitable would be suitable? I'm not suggesting opening an (in-game) book or anything, but some kind of charitable donation on the part of the respective supporters would be acceptable? Heads together, denizens!

Who'd have thought it all started from a spat about a few 'likes'?
I hope they include the back-story in the intro and explain what the Court of C&P actually is - content creation.
We're the underdogs here, since G&D is visited by way more folks than C&P. Whatever the outcome of the Thunderdome, ISD Max Trix already won in my book.
It's a time for the members of C&P to put aside any minor differences and unite as one behind the Max Trix banner. I'm not a gambler, but I am happy to donate a PLEX or its Isk value to anything nominated by the eventual winner.
What a community.

I'm not a gambler, but I am happy to donate a PLEX or its Isk value to anything nominated by the eventual winner. What a community. As Judge of the Court of Crime and Punishment I can not condone this line of thinking. Thunderdome was called so there can be only one winner. Both combatants can gain respect but only one shall leave alive. 2 Ships enter one ship leaves 2 Ships enter one ship leaves 2 Ships enter one ship leaves
In the interests of unanimity, I defer. Two ships enter; one ship leaves.
But I wish to place on record my desire to see collateral benefit arising from this encounter. Officer Arkaral wishes a book to be opened; I wish to donate Isk. The trouble with 'likes' has always been the impossibility of augmenting them in any way but further comment.
I hope we can maintain the chillies-with-sulphur flavour of C&P whilst at the same time giving a nod in the direction of the altruistic.
Or not, of course.

I've a feeling that if/once this is ok'd by CCP Logibro or whoever has the final say, the conditions will become clearer. There isn't much time at all and it would be a shame to cobble together something less than satisfactory after such a build-up.
Perhaps they could simply be warped by CCP-magic to points 100km apart, and told to get on with it? Thunderdome noob, me.

ISD Monksnark wrote:CCP Logibro wrote: So let me get this right.
You invoke the call of Thunderdome, without first checking with it's keeper? You do not seek his grant of ascent onto the sacred proving ground before you make your challenge? This is not your personal sandbox, this is a hallowed arena where reputations are born and dreams are crushed as capsuleers throw their pride, honour, determination and skill upon an altar where only the strongest can survive. If you wish to show your might within it's bounds, you would be wise to first request admission from it's custodian, just like all those that have battled there have before. Do not be so presumptuous to assume it is at your disposal on a whim.
Your transgressions in this instance aside, I confer with your lord and master CCP Phantom, and together we shall decide the conditions of your conflict. Be thankful that I am merciful. It would not bode your reputation well to declare contest you can not hold.
Masters, Our champion has sinned and fallen short in your eyes. Truly our sorrow can know no bounds! Buldath has failed to observe the proper rituals, and in doing so has forsaken his solemn duty to the gods. He is deserving of your wrath, and all of STAR are penitent for nominating such an unworthy champion. Yet, even as we prostrate ourselves at your feet, we remain hopeful that you may judge our intentions to be virtuous. There can be no excusing BuldathGÇÖs desecration of the holy spaces, and yet hit sin was one of omission. We beseech you to overlook our transgressions and instead cast your gaze upon the vile ones. See how they corrupt the people, ensnaring them with falsehoods. See the lack of virtue or repentance in the heart of their champion... And most of all, see how they make a mockery of the very gods themselves! Even their despicable leader refuses to show due reverence, responding to your most holy writ with a simple image macro! This blasphemy cannot be allowed to continue! While the gods are truly all-powerful, we beg you to allow us the honour of smiting them in your most holy name. This we ask so that the people may be freed from their unwitting bondage. This we ask that STAR might demonstrate its pre-eminence as defender of the faith. This we ask that even that our champion Buldath may in some small way restitute himself. For all of this we boldly ask admittance to the most hallowed Thunderdome, confident that the gods shall bless us in our undertaking. While we are no more worthy than the lowliest Jita spammer, we have been sanctified by the power of your most righteous devhax. Though your reasons for granting such favour may confound us, you have seen fit to grant us the teal text of virtue, and the power to silence all evildoers who cross our path, be they offtopic or trolling alike. Through these vestments we spread the light of STAR far and wide, and surely none can stand against it.
Well if that lot doesn't persuade him, nothing will.
You rightly point out ISD Buldath's shortcomings, and we in the Court of C&P are pleased that you seem to recognise - if only by inference - that our own ISD Max Trix is a wholly innocent participant in these proceedings. 'Twas Buldath who raised the matter of the 'likes', Buldath who threw down the gauntlet, and Buldath who offended the mighty CCP Logibro by outraging protocol in the manner described.
2 Ships enter; Max Trix leaves.

Foolish child, you know not of what you speak!
Our emissary and champion was dispatched in an attempt to restore balance to the natural order of things. These so called "likes" are only the symptom of the true problem, namely that that he has perverted the hearts and minds of the people and holds them in thrall.
Our hopes were not high, but before taking more drastic action we thought it proper to first assess how deeply the rot went. After all, if the like balance was quickly restored once their folly was pointed out to them, then no further action may have been necessary.
Sadly, it appears the rot extends right to the core. Indeed, its extent and vicissitude from the natural order of things shocked us deeply. We had no choice but to immediately challenge the iniquitous Max, in the hope that once the source of this moral poison was removed from his undeserved position of power that the people might finally be able to re embrace the light of STAR.
Far from being "innocent" as you claim, it was the sheer extent of Max's outrageous wickedness that caused Buldath to sin, for in his zeal he forgot that we ourselves must obey the proper order of things.
The Court appreciates your well-couched on-the-fly rebuttal, but notes that, in essence, it boils down to a refutation based upon nothing more than a hastily-concocted history of dubious veracity and the scandalous assertion that a man may be coerced into sin by the supposedly sinful actions of another, through the agency of 'zeal'. Outrageous.
Nice bit of prose though.

Well done Max Trix; none but C&P's own could get me to attend a single instance of virtual combat in a spaceship-shooting game at 2 in the morning.
Well done Max Buldath - I'm going to study the footage closely tomorrow for what I'm sure will be evidence of malpractice on your part. There will be a next time! (It was best of 3 wasn't it?) |

Ok ok you lot. I just wanna slide in here and show that we in C&P know how to lose sans tears, and graciously (if not exactly gladly).
Thanks to Dom Arkaral, whose idea it was, and to CCP Logibro who (eventually) gave his permission to use the very special Arena. We are eternally - eternally I tell you - grateful to His Majesty for his condescension.
Thanks also to all those who offered fits and advice to the combatants; I was unable to do so, being so very used to the ambush playstyle.
And lastly, to the two ISDs themselves, for being good sports; an example to us all (probably).
It'd be a shame if this just fizzled out, so if anyone has any ideas which might have mileage, step up! |

Goodbye. And for that post you needed two edits? So much for the King of Forums, ha! Well, youngster. Now you deal with me, the hot stuff. Better be prepared. You know, you starting to make me think that the world ending cant be any more painful than listening to you!
Well, well, very spicey ISD Eshtir - Phall-curry spicey, in fact!
Do you have a constituency within the game? It's much easier to garner support that way, although frankly, I'm more-or-less committed to supporting anyone who challenges the King of Cheats, Down-With-His-Name, Buldath.
Apparently, these are the rules; might be an idea to give them the once-over. Note that at no time did anyone from C&P or GD (or anywhere else for that matter) agree to be bound by them. They were imposed from above.
I do think - as suggested by a previous Official of the Court - that a dedicated rulebook needs to be drawn up for these engagements. The original rules were designed with teams specifically in mind.
All that said; let battle commence!
